ABOUT THE SONG
This song is a greeting song intended to be used at the start of the day, or at the beginning of a special program such as a music class. This song teaches the social behavior of greeting others and also
teaches children to identify colors.

WHERE TO START
Option A:

Make a circle on the floor using tape.

Option B:

You can also have the children sit in theirchairs in a circle for this song.

INSTRUCTIONS

Explain to the children that they will sing a song and say hello to everyone. Let the children know that they have to use their eyes and their ears during the song.  Tell them that the song will ask us to wave
hello to children wearing certain colors.

Emphasis that they will have to use their eyes to find the children wearing the color we hear in the song, then they can wave hello to those children wearing that color.

Again, emphasis to the children that we are using our eyes to find the children wearing the color we hear in the song, our ears to hear what color we are looking
for, and our body to wave hello to the children wearing the color we hear in the song. The only thing we are using our voice for during the song is to sing.
We can all sing along!

TRY THIS
If it is your first time using this song with the children, or if you are working with younger children, you might want to use color paper squares to assist you with this
song. Each time a new color is heard, hold that color square up to help the children identify that color. Try this song throughout the year. As the kids get better, use the instrumental version of this song, and add different colors. This song is an easy tune to learn, and you can print the lyrics to help you out.
